How Seddon Leveraged Our Consulting Team to Create a User-Friendly, Scalable Version of Microsoft SharePoint

About Seddon

Seddon delivers over £160m of building projects across the UK, employing nearly 800 people. The company offers new builds, refurbishments, maintenance, and energy solutions through its group of companies.

The Challenge

Seddon implemented Microsoft SharePoint to create a company-wide content management platform called The Hub. However, it quickly became clear that significant changes were needed for The Hub to function as intended. The system’s instability was affecting performance, documents were inconsistently formatted, and much of the content was incorrectly categorised.

How We Helped

Our first priority was to stabilise the existing system. We then conducted a thorough analysis of Seddon’s business objectives and processes to identify the underlying issues. We developed a more robust architecture and migrated all content to this new structure. To ensure consistency and proper organisation, we implemented governance protocols, categorised content, and enforced permissions. We also separated and protected policies and procedures. Finally, we provided training for Seddon staff to help them effectively use the new system.

The Results

Performance and efficiency have significantly improved. Seddon now has a stable, reliable solution that meets the company’s needs for daily use. The Hub’s search and retrieval functions are aligned with both company standards and user expectations. Seddon also now has a strategic platform on which to build additional functionality. The Hub is fresher, faster, and easier to use—exactly what Seddon had envisioned from the start.
