Custom Mobile App Development for Logistics and Supply Chain
Custom iOS and Android mobile apps built for logistics and supply chain teams. Real-time visibility, route optimisation, and system integrations from discovery through App Store and Play Store launch.
Logistics and supply chain operations depend on real-time information. Generic mobile apps fall short because they don't account for warehouse workflows, driver handoff procedures, or integration with your existing fleet management systems and ERP platforms. A custom mobile app built for your supply chain does. It sits within your operational stack, reflects how your teams actually work, and scales as your network grows. Whether you're managing a single depot or coordinating deliveries across multiple regions, the app learns your business rules and enforces them at the point of work, not after the fact.
01
Why supply chain teams need purpose-built mobile apps
02
From discovery to ongoing support
Building a logistics app is not about coding features in isolation. We spend time understanding your current pain points: driver communication gaps, inventory visibility delays, customer handoff failures, or route planning constraints. That discovery informs the app's design and technical architecture. We design iOS and Android versions in parallel, handle backend and API integration with your existing systems, manage the App Store and Play Store submissions, and then stay with you through launch and beyond. Post-launch, we cover app updates, operating system compatibility, bug fixes, and feature development through a retainer model so you don't face surprise costs when iOS or Android releases change.
03
Cross-platform development with nearshore flexibility
Developing separate iOS and Android codebases doubles cost and complexity. We use cross-platform approaches where they fit, but we don't force them. If your supply chain operations require native performance (especially for offline sync, GPS tracking, or hardware integration), we build native apps. If a cross-platform approach meets your needs, we take it. Our UK, Spain, and Ukraine delivery footprint means we align with your timezone, speak your language, and maintain the quality standards your customers expect. You get the cost efficiency of nearshore teams with the communication and cultural fit of a UK-based partner.
CASE STUDIES
How we've transformed enterprises, SMEs and startups
Founded in 2007 as a dedicated IT consultancy, Evolved Ideas has grown into a team of over 100 professionals, with a head office in Leicester and development hubs in Eastern Europe and Spain.
The team at Evolved Ideas work with us as extended team members, and very much as part of our team. They have just completed a major milestone in our development, going live with our new loan management platform, and we couldn't be happier.

OUR EXPERTISE
What we build
Over 17 years building custom software and mobile applications, and leveraging AI and ML to build the software you'll need next.
UK and European logistics operators face specific pressures: driver retention in tight labour markets, customer expectations for real-time tracking visibility, and integration with fragmented legacy systems across multiple sites. A custom mobile app reduces driver admin burden (fewer manual check-ins, faster handoff), gives customers the transparency they demand, and closes information gaps between depot, TMS, and last-mile teams. Evolved Ideas' UK base and nearshore delivery model means we understand local operational constraints (UK fuel costs, GDPR data handling, timezone alignment with European hubs) while maintaining the development capacity and cost efficiency of a distributed team across Leicester, Spain, and Ukraine.
Our process has guided startups, scaleups and enterprises from concept to reality, and continues after launch.
01
Discovery
A free 30-minute consultation followed by a stakeholder workshop, where we listen to your challenges, validate assumptions and build an outside-in view of your situation.
02
Plan & design
We scope the project, define milestones and deliverables, then research your market, wireframe the UX and prototype the UI so the direction is agreed before a line of code.
03
Build
We assemble your dedicated team, establish reporting and work in iterative Scrum sprints, delivering a working MVP or proof of concept you can test with real users.
04
Launch & support
We ship, sign off, and keep your product current through our support service or a permanent extended team as your business evolves.
Technology is more than just code — it's a tool for solving real business challenges. Whichever route fits your stage, the same team delivers it.
Bespoke Software
With your long-term goals in mind, we help you choose the technology you need and develop a tech roadmap based on industry trends, emerging tech and your business requirements.
We have years of experience building proof of concepts and MVPs. We will take you from testing viability to building an MVP to validate your hypotheses.
Tier 1 customer support, Tier 2 technical support and Tier 3 development support for applications and legacy software, delivered by our engineering teams.
If you need to build an IT team from zero or need staff augmentation, we can build the team you need — developers, designers, analysts and even fractional CTOs.
How do we ensure the app works offline when drivers lose signal?
Offline capability is built into the app architecture from the start. Data syncs to the device when connection is available, and queued transactions (deliveries, scans, signatures) upload automatically once the signal returns. This requires careful local database design and conflict resolution logic. We test this extensively in real-world conditions so drivers aren't stranded with an app that won't work in a tunnel or rural area.
Can the mobile app integrate with our current TMS or ERP?
Yes. Most logistics operations run on established systems (SAP, Oracle, bespoke TMS platforms). The app connects via APIs to pull route data, inventory status, and delivery instructions, and sends back proof-of-delivery, GPS coordinates, and timestamp data. We map your data model to the app's interface so information flows both ways without manual re-entry. If your current system has poor API documentation, we may need to build an intermediary layer, but we work within what you have.
What happens to the app when iOS or Android releases a major update?
OS updates sometimes break older apps or change required permissions. We cover these through a support retainer: monitoring release notes, testing your app on new OS versions, and deploying compatibility fixes before they affect your users. If a major OS version requires UI changes (like new navigation patterns), we handle those as feature development, which sits outside the retainer and is budgeted separately.
How long does it typically take to build and launch a supply chain app?
A single-purpose app (route viewing, proof-of-delivery, inventory check) takes 16 to 24 weeks from discovery to App Store submission. Apps with complex integrations, offline sync, or multi-role workflows take 28 to 40 weeks. That timeline includes API integration, testing on real devices, App Store review cycles, and a staged rollout with your team. We build in buffer for feedback loops so you're not rushed to launch.
Do you handle the App Store and Play Store submission process?
Yes. We manage the entire submission: app signing, compliance checks, store listing optimization, and responding to review feedback. We handle the first submission and subsequent updates. You retain full ownership of the app store accounts, but we guide you through the process so there are no surprises in review.
What happens if we need to scale the app across new regions or add new vehicle types?
The architecture is built for scale from the start. If you launch with vans and later add bicycles or contractors, the app adapts. Regional expansion (new depot locations, different regulatory requirements) is handled through backend configuration and, if needed, UI variants. Feature additions roll out as development work outside the support retainer, but the underlying system already anticipates growth.
