When Extended Teams Make Sense
Extended teams are ideal when you have a specific project, a temporary skill gap, or a known peak in demand. CTOs and IT Directors often use them to run concurrent workstreams without hiring, to cover leaves or departures, or to inject specialist skills (DevOps, QA, architecture) that justify salary cost. Unlike hiring, there's no commitment if the work ends or priorities shift.
